There are some actors I can't watch and I have no good reason why. Mariska Hartigay makes my skin crawl. So does Mary-Louise Parker. David Caruso creeps me out. They win awards. They have lots of fans. For some reason, they set off my gag reflex.
I've never understood how people can immediately start salting their dinner before they've even tried it. It's a huge insult and a presumption that the food isn't tasty enough. Not to mention, all that salt isn't good for anyone. Then again, I grew up watching a couple of my cousins put ketchup on everything. Even in tomato soup! I only wish I was kidding.
Everyone, likely including me, could afford to cut the length of their personal anecdotes in half. Take the stuff you think is essential to the story, toss out 50% of it and that's still about twice as much as anyone else cares to hear about!
Like any woman - or any person for that matter - I need to be informed about health issues. But I'm getting tired of being hit over the head with scary statistics and warnings and advice every single day. I suppose it's the shotgun method over shooting with a rifle; health advocates spray widely in hopes of hitting more people. But there are times when I find it a little depressing! Maybe it's just me. But I'd like to be carefree again, sometimes. I suppose that's unrealistic. But I wouldn't mind being a little unrealistic sometimes too.
