She's very slight, maybe in her 30's, and she's jogging on a predictable route at around 3:30 every morning. Her head is down, her hands limp in front of her, she's moving slowly and she looks very weak and meek.
When I lived on Woodlawn Avenue West at Yonge and St. Clair and walked to and from my evening gig on MIX 99.9, I would have loved to have seen "bait" jogging by. It made me positively gleeful to see a frightened looking, weak woman out when I was out, because - I reasoned - that if some weirdo was going to make a choice between grabbing me or her, it would be her. My head was always held high, my "F U" or "Subway" face was in place, my little can of military tear gas at my side as I walked briskly and confidently. Unless the dude was insane and looking for more of a challenge, he'd be passing me by for easier pickin's up the street.
Maybe I have this new "bait" all wrong. Perhaps her hands are registered as lethal weapons. Maybe she's not as feeble as she looks. I just hope someone doesn't come along and try to test her mettle. Regardless of whether she's strong or weak, it's the middle of the night and she's making herself very vulnerable to the whims of the other creatures out and about.
