Maxim gives Warpaint two-and-a-half stars and says it's more of the same, shows little growth, etc, but the reviewer never got an advanced copy of the CD and now admits he was basing his review on "an educated guess". That's just junk talk for, "I out and out lied".
It reminds me of Mitch Albom's controversy a few years ago. The Detroit Free Press suspended him after he submitted an article that included an event at a Michigan State game that never happened. He filed the article before the game and ... went bowling or something. Plans changed and his piece ended up being false.
Journalists are supposed to write about things they experience, not try to pretend they experienced something they really didn't. That's called fiction and it belongs in different areas of the publication, identified as such. I have no patience for this type of deception.
