It was a very hot weekend. Temperatures in the high 20's with humidex values in the 30's roasted us students in our full gear: heavy jackets, jeans, boots, helmets, goggles and gloves. But what a thrill to learn safety maneouvres, driving techniques and to just toodle around the snaking Fanshawe College lanes, simply for fun. It was a big moment when we got to leave the parking lot (where all of the training is done) and get out where we could encounter actual traffic! Traffic count: two tentative cars whose drivers instantly recognized they were amid a gaggle of newbie motorcyclists!
Several failed the final exam. I'm very proud to say I passed with flying colours. As my instructor Steve said as he sent me off for my turn, "You don't pass, my kids don't eat!" That's motivation!
The driving course was a great experience and as they kept telling us, if you're not having fun on a motorcyle, you are doing something wrong. So I had fun! BIG fun and now I'm legal to drive for real. But I'm a long way from being an expert driver. Now I have to decide what I want to ride. Updates on that, as warranted!
